WBHS—Scriptwriter
The PowerPoint script is located on the WBHS Script floppy disk. The script disk and news items are located in the blue plastic envelope on the side of Ms. Wallace’s file cabinets.
As soon as the scriptwriter enters the classroom, he/she should immediately begin working on the script! Remember to use creative writing—using exact wording from provided information can be boring. Repeated news items should be reworded daily to avoid repetitious news.
Use CU (closeup) and WS (wideshot) for camera directions. Usually a wideshot is best for beginning the news (greeting) and then alternating closeups after the Moment of Silence/Pledge of Allegience—returning to a wideshot for the closing. (Camera A or B can be used for wideshots---use Camera B for Talent 1 and Talent 3 CU shots and Camera A for Talent 2 CU shots.) Use talent names in the script rather than Talent 1-2-3.
The script must be printed before the scriptwriter leaves for lunch--even if additional time is needed. (If this is the case, make arrangements with Ms. Wallace to return late from lunch.) Print scripts using front and back of paper. Ten scripts are needed--Talent 1, Talent 2, Talent 3, Camera 1, Camera 2, Mixer, Character Generator, Editor, Floor Director, and Ms. Wallace. After printing, leave scripts in front of the printer. Be sure to throw away all old news! Leave disk with Ms. Wallace for burning to the CD.
Additional Note: The scriptwriter may also need to gather news items from listening to morning/afternoon announcements and gathering posted flyer information from around the building. The scriptwriter may assign the task to one of the Extra crewmembers.
Note: Scriptwriter grade will be counted as a test grade!
