Recommended Grade Level: 9 – 10

Description:  Algebra I is the first course in the college preparatory sequence for mathematics.  Algebra I is taught as a two semester (year-long) course with students required to pass the first semester course, Algebra IA in order to take the second semester course, Algebra IB. Students enrolled in Algebra I should have passed Pre-Algebra.  Algebra I covers solving equations, solving systems of equations, variable and polynomial expressions, factoring polynomials, working with exponents, inequalities, rational expressions, and graphing linear equations.

Course Title:  Euclidean Geometry
Course Number: 27.0630038
Pre-requisite:  Algebra I
Recommended Grade Level: 10 – 12

Description:  Euclidean Geometry is a college-prep course that will expand the student's understanding of geometry beyond just the concept of deductive reasoning.   This course will stress a variety of geometric applications through enhancing visual understanding of geometry and the use of algebraic skills and concepts.

Course Title:  Algebra II
Course Number: 27.0640038
Course Number: 27.0640098
Pre-requisite:  Algebra I
Recommended Grade Level:  9 – 12

Description:  Algebra II initially reviews and then extends the concepts from Algebra I.  Included among these topics are:  the basic operations with real numbers and polynomials, solving equations and inequalities, linear functions, factoring polynomials, and simplifying rational expressions.  Also included in the Algebra II curriculum is the study irrational and complex numbers, quadratic equations and analytic geometry.

Course Title:  Advanced Algebra & Trigonometry
Course Number: 27.0650038
Pre-requisite:  Algebra II and Euclidean Geometry
Recommended Grade Level:  11 – 12

Description:  Algebra III and Trigonometry is a synchronized combination of advanced algebra, trigonometry, elementary analysis, and analytical geometry.  It is intended to provide a strong foundation for the student to succeed in higher mathematics courses such as calculus and discrete mathematics.  Particular emphasis is placed on trigonometric  functions, conic sections, sequences, series, and the field of complex numbers and vectors and matrices.
