Course Title:
Current Issues Description: Analyzes current issues and the influences that are related to these issues. Examines how decisions are made concerning policies and issues; integrates and reinforces social studies skills. Course Title: Civics Description: An in-depth study of the American political systems. This course focuses on the foundation, principles, and structure of the American system of government. Examines the role of political parties, social factors as they related to the role of the citizen, and analyzes the decision-making process that is a part of the system of American political behavior. Note: This course meets the state’s Citizenship requirement for graduation. Course Title: Economics Description: Economics is a mandated course for graduation. Informed decision-making is the responsibility of each citizen. Most important issues contain economic content and trade offs. (i.e. environment, energy, poverty, resource allocation, etc.) To understand these issues, it is necessary to have a basic understanding of key economic concepts and to use the process of analysis. Individual and group decision-making will be explored. Course Title: U. S. History Description: This course covers American History from its beginning to modern times. It is designed to give the students an in-depth understanding and knowledge of the progress of the U. S. This course is a state graduation requirement. Course Title:
Pre-AP U.S. History Description: Pre-Advanced Placement United States History conforms to College Board topics for the Advanced Placement United States History examination. It places demands on the student equivalent to an introductory college course. This course exposes students to the historical content of U.S. history including pre-colonization, colonization, the revolutionary period, the new republic, expansionism, creating an American culture, sectionalism, civil war, reconstruction, industrialization and an urban society, the gilded age, the U.S. as a world power, progressive era, the world at war, depression and new deal, cold war, post-war America. Students will learn to analyze and interpret primary sources, take notes from printed materials, lectures, and discussions and write essay examinations. Course Title: Advanced Placement
