JBB - STUDENT ENTRANCE AGE


Admission Requirements: All public schools organized under the jurisdiction of the Baldwin County Board of Education shall be free to all individuals as follows.



1. Eligibility for pre-school special needs services shall be based upon the student's Individualized Educational Plan (IEP). Children shall become eligible for special needs services upon reaching their 3rd birthday provided they have an IEP.



2. Children whose 4th birthday is on or before September 1 may be eligible for enrollment in Head Start or the pre-kindergarten program on a space available basis.



3. Any child whose 5th birthday falls on or before September 1 may enter kindergarten at the beginning of that school year.



4. Any child, whose 6th birthday falls on or before September 1, may enter the first grade at the opening of school of the same year.



New residents recently moved to Baldwin County from outside the sate of Georgia may be accepted under the following conditions.



1. The student has already attended first grade more than half of the school year.



2. Student must be doing satisfactory work.
